Brandon Camino ’15, graduated from ASU with a degree in design management, landing a job in his field of study. His parents Lisa and Bruce Camino, grateful for the opportunities ASU provided their son, showed their appreciation through generosity, contributing to the ASU Foundation’s Sun Devil Family Association, which, among its many services, provides scholarship and emergency crisis support to ASU students.
Lisa explains why, as the parents of an alum, they want to give to ASU:
“It was an easy decision to contribute to [ASU students through the SDFA]. College opens doors for students, and then it is up to you to walk through them and take advantage of the opportunities provided. Just so you know, we are a spiritual family. Brandon received his acceptance letter to ASU on a weekend when he was at a church leadership retreat, and before he left I had prayed that he would receive that weekend whatever God intended for him to receive. Imagine my surprise when he opened his mail. College has opened many doors for him. He left for ASU a 17 year old, somewhat low in confidence, on the shy side, and not quite certain he could handle college academics. He is now a young man with the tools to pursue a career in design, much more confident and definitely not shy any longer.”
Lisa’s encouraging words for ASU students:
“Sometimes in life we are in the position to give, and sometimes we are in need. We hope that our donation helps to ease stress in some significant way for you. Most of all what we would like to communicate is to never give up on your college education, or on yourself. You will survive the tough times, and you will be stronger and more resilient because of them. May your time at ASU be filled with many blessings!”
