If your student is unable to travel home for the Thanksgiving holiday, Off-Campus Student Services in partnership with the Sun Devil Family Association will make sure he or she enjoys a free Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. A traditional meal in a warm, family-style environment is provided — complete with leftovers.
ASU parent ambassador Angel Guy has been a part of the SDFA for almost three years and the Thanksgiving dinner continues to be her favorite program.
Angel has volunteered at the event every year since she became a member. She has been able to interact with many students and hear their unique stories. Thanksgiving 2015 brought together almost 500 students from across the U.S. and international students from countries such as India, Nepal, China and Spain to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal on campus with their Sun Devil
family. The ability to give them an environment that feels like home continues to warm her heart.
“One of the students that came to the Thanksgiving
dinner said to me, ‘It was nice to know I had a place to
get up and go to that morning.’ It’s just nice to be in a
place where you can feel at home,” says Angel.
SDFA volunteers and Off Campus Student Services staff provided an inviting environment for all students and others who dropped by for a wonderful meal. Though attendees were far from their homes and families, they were able to enjoy the warmth of the Thanksgiving holiday — in large part due to the generous support of many ASU parents through the SDFA.
